My college education began at a then small tech school called Asheville-Buncombe Technical which offered courses in drafting and design, computer keypunch, and automotive mechanics. I chose drafting not auto mechanics.

I returned to college in 1997 after working for many years in drafting and aerial photography. I was in my fifties when I returned and wasn't sure I could handle the college courses. I did prevail however, and received my AS degree in Network Engineering from Polk Community College in 2000. In 2002 I graduated from Warner Southern College with a BA degree in Organizational Management. In May of 2008 I received my M.Ed from the University of South Florida in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Instructional Technology.

I began my academic advising career at USF in 2003. In the five years I have been here I have met some very interesting and memorable students. Some were scared and nervous at the beginning of the program, but ended the program confident and sure they could handle the rigors of teaching elementary school. What I found most exciting about the USF Polytechnic students I deal with is their tenacity and desire to accomplish their goal no matter what obstacles they have to overcome.
