Career Assessments

What career should I choose? Am I in the right major? Where is my career headed? Find out with one or more career assessments.

MyPlan.com, a FREE online career guidance tool provided exclusively for USFP students, has assessments for Personality, Interests, Work Values and Skills. Results yield a wealth of information and videos on different occupations based on your answers. Contact mary@poly.usf.edu or 863.667.7063 for your password.

  • Each assessment only takes 10 - 15 minutes.
  • It will assess your interests only; no verbal or math testing.
  • It will assess your job personality type.
  • Results from all four assessments (Personality, Interests, Work Values, and Skills) combined will provide greater accuracy in helping you to determine your career path.
  • It can help you choose the most appropriate major for you.
  • Results will lead you to hundreds of professions you might not have thought of with lots of information, such as details of what it's like to be in that profession on a daily basis, education required, demand of occupation, salary expectations, skills required.
  • You can explore your results at leisure on your home computer.
  • It can encourage you to find an internship or job in a field you might not have considered.
  • It can help you determine where you would be happiest in the world of work.
  • It can validate that you are on the right career path.

Successful career choices are a result of taking the time to plan and thoroughly get to know yourself in relationship to the world of work and determine where you would be happiest in the job market. If you are unsure which career path you should follow, career assessments can measure your interests, abilities and values and point you in the most appropriate direction. Many times career assessments can validate what you already know about yourself and assure you that you are on the right path.

Career assessments are also available at the Career Center or by visiting other online resources such as the Interest Profiler. Assessments also link to detailed information on specific careers. Additional resources including composing your own career portfolio may be found at FACTS.org.

Students are strongly encouraged to call or make an appointment with a career counselor to discuss assessment results.
