Students, faculty and staff at the University of South Florida Polytechnic regularly "go green" for football games. Now they have another way to go green - recycling.
Last month the university began recycling paper products, including cardboard, brochures and newspapers. Blue bins in offices, the library and the Student Government Association area now make it easy and convenient to recycle.
Facility Operations Supervisor Nancy Webb, who organized the recycling program, says, "I wanted facilities to be prepared and have a process in place before we got to our new campus. A lot of the staff and faculty wanted recycling and I'm glad we could do something for them. It not only helps USFP but of course the environment." Webb says USFP receives $30 for each 2000 pounds of paper, money she will use to pay for the recycling containers. She also hopes to expand recycling to include plastic bottles and aluminum cans.
