What are distance learning fees?
In 2008, the House Bill #5001 authorized the state's universities to charge a supplemental fee known as a distance learning fee. This fee is used for the development and delivery of distance learning courses. These courses include the use of technology in the delivery method. It serves as additional funding in providing high level and competitive academic programs.
What will USF do with this money?
State law requires that universities use these funds to assist in developing and maintaining delivery of distance learning courses.
When will USFP start charging the distance learning fee?
USF Polytechnic began assessing this fee in the 2009 Spring semester. Students admitted or readmitted to USFP for a term beginning after Fall 2008, will pay the distance learning fee for enrollment taken at the undergraduate and graduate level beginning with the Spring 2009 term.
What about out-of-state or international students?
All students, even those who are not Florida residents, are required to pay the distance learning fees.
What about Bright Futures?
Bright Futures does not cover distance learning fees but will continue to pay the majority of your per-credit-hour costs.
I have a Florida PrePaid College Program. Will I have to pay these additional fees?
