Students are encouraged to complete at least 18 credit hours of the general education requirements as part of the AS degree, and it is highly recommended that students select Gordon Rule communication and computation courses to fulfill these requirements while at the community college.
The AS degree will transfer as a complete 60 credit hour package to USF (applicable only to the BSAS program). Technical coursework will transfer as a 42 credit hour technical block. The remaining 18 credit hours of general education coursework from the AS will be matched against USF requirements to determine which courses remain outstanding for fulfillment of the university's 36 credit hour general education requirements.

General Education Requirement
To earn a bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida, students must complete the state required general education course work. Courses that were not completed as part of the AS degree may completed either at the lower or upper level. Students should meet with their academic advisor for assistance in selecting courses.

For students receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, this is satisfied with successful completion of either two years of the same foreign language in high school or two semesters of the same foreign language in college. Foreign language courses are not available at USF Polytechnic.
