The bachelor of science in applied science (BSAS) degree at USF Polytechnic is designed to serve Florida's associate of science (AS) graduates who seek a flexible program that recognizes the value of academic work already completed and requires only 60 additional credit hours beyond the AS degree. This program supplements the technical skills learned in study for the AS degree and provides the remainder of the general education needed to obtain a bachelor's degree.
The BSAS early childhood development program equips students with knowledge in:
- Child growth and learning
- Health and nutrition for the young child
- Safety and motor skills for the young child
- Personnel and supervision
- Creative and affective experiences for young children
- Young children with special needs
Students may tailor their degree program to meet their personal interest or career goals. This program is intended to build on the program of study that has been completed by students with an AS in early childhood development or associated fields. This degree program does not lead to a professional certification in early childhood education.
